Application Process 
Both parties must apply for a marriage license in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs office, open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Special arrangements can be made for a fee if you wish to get married on a weekend or holiday upon your arrival. 

Required Documents 
To complete your application, you will need the following documents: 

• Valid passports 

• Original or certified copies of the applicants' birth certificates and identification cards for name verification 

• If previously married and widowed, provide the original or certified copy of the marriage certificate and the death certificate of the deceased spouse 

• If divorced, present the original Decree Absolute or Final Judgement (the Decree Nisi is not accepted) 

• For individuals granted Barbadian citizenship, provide the original document issued by the Immigration Department of Barbados or the passport containing the relevant information 

• Non-nationals with work permits must show the passport with the work permit stamp or the document issued by the Immigration Department, provided it is not an application form or receipt 

• Ensure that your work permit is valid at the time of application 

• Keep in mind that no marriage date can exceed the expiry date of a visitor's stay in Barbados 

Official Translations
If your documents are not in English, they must be accompanied by an official translation certified by an authorized Notary Public (not a Justice of Peace). 

Prior Arrangements 
Before applying for the marriage license, couples should arrange with a Marriage Officer (a Magistrate or Minister of Religion authorized to solemnize marriages in Barbados). A letter from the chosen Marriage Officer, consenting to perform the ceremony, should be included with the application. Non-resident Ministers of Religion must obtain a temporary Marriage Officer's License in Barbados. 

Dress Code 
Please note that proper attire is required when visiting the Ministry of Home Affairs for business. Swimwear, micro shorts, armhole vests, or transparent clothing should not be worn. 

Business Hours 
Applications for marriage licenses are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Ministry of Home Affairs office is closed on weekends and public holidays.
